The FRA maps your body’s true capacity — where you have control, where you don’t, and how that impacts the way you move (and frankly, how you go through life day-to-day).

It’s about whether your system can actually handle the demands you’re throwing at it. From daily life to the sports and adventures you love most, this is the wake-up call your movement’s been missing.

During the session, we’ll map every joint, every range, and see how it stacks up against the real demands of your life — whether that’s training, skiing, hiking, or just moving through your day without pain.

It’s a 1.5–3 hour comprehensive exam that doesn’t just tell you what’s “tight.” It shows you where you’ve got control, where you don’t, and why it matters. You’ll leave with a clear, personalized plan to close the gap between how you’re moving right now… and how your body needs to move if you want it to last.

A functional exam to wake you up to how you’re moving — and how you’re not.

“Most people don’t break down because of bad luck — they break down because their system was never taught how to build capacity greater than the pathetic load it takes to break them in the first place.”

Why FRA Matters

The FRA™ isn’t about flexibility — I don’t care how “bendy” someone is. What matters is what you actually have and your ability to use it when the brown stuff hits the fan.

It maps your real capacity: where you’ve got control, where you don’t, and how that plays out not just in the gym or on the mountain, but in the way you go through life day-to-day.

And here’s where it gets real. Think about it…
  • That back that “blows out” on a hard-packed ski day.
  • The Achilles that robs you of that speed and heart-pounding rhythm you used to live for on runs.
  • The hip tweak on a trail race that takes eight months to “kind of” come back — only to realize you’ve shifted from peak-to-peak runs into big hikes (not that there’s anything wrong with hiking — you know it’s become one of my main ways to ground and connect in life).
  • The shoulder that makes you second-guess every time you drop back in on the bike.
  • The knee that never really trusted itself again after jamming between two rocks on that hike.
  • The ACL that gave way the second you got a little too far back on your skis — right when you were laying down your fastest time, edges slicing into the snow.

None of these are random. They’re what happens when you ask tissues to take on loads they were never prepared to handle. Rehab will patch you back to “normal.” But what if normal sucks? Normal doesn’t build capacity. And without capacity, the cycle just repeats.

After more than 30 years in rehab and movement work, I can tell you — the body’s a master at finding clever ways to cheat around what it doesn’t have. Those cheats might work for a while, but sooner or later, they’re what drive the breakdowns.

And age? All age does is give you more time to pile up compensations. Whether you’re 15 or 75, this applies to you.  Don't believe me?  Grab a few 12 year olds and ask them to drop into a squat for you.  I'm here to tell you most of them either can't do it, or they flat out suck!  But grab an 18-month-old, and be prepared for a master session in what the highest quality of squatting perfection looks like.
